Comin to NYC..Looking for 18+ Club?`
Me and a friend are coming to NYC May 1-3 , most likely. I am TRYING to find a club night that is not 21 +..She is 19. Only thing I found, was Absolution, which their site says is closed down.

Is there any goth club 18+ avaliable?

If not, what types of "gothy" things are avaliable? I havent been to NYC in 10 years...

Thanks!

Hm. Not sure! I'll ask around. The goth scene is rather fractured here these days.

you can try
Hopping the Path train to Newark. A five minute cab ride will get you to Qxts. It may not be the best place on the planet, but its about the only place that is 18+. And there are 3 rooms to choose from music-wise. Check it out. Mulberry st.

Re: you can try
Hmm Qxts sounds interesting for a road trip. Whats the club like?

I might try to find a couch to surf with someone heh too bad I don't know anyone there. I'd prob just go up for the club and come back the next day.

Re: you can try
Depends on the night you go. Google the site. Most times the main floor plays the more popular synthpop and industrial as well as old New Wave. Downstairs in the Crypt, the older goth stuff. Area 51 is usually the more obscure industrial and noise. And sometimes NYC djs guest dj. Club is open 10 to 245. Ladies over 21 free before 11.

Re: you can try
Hmm looks like Saturdays are the more industrial/goth stuff and more 80's on Fridays.

Sounds like a plan, as long as its not too hard to get too from NYC.

Ill prob go to NYC on a friday and stay til Sunday, so I may try to hit this Sat night.

Maybe Ill get a Hostel for the weekend. Hope I dont get ass-raped.

Re: you can try
Quick Question...

Im not familure with NYC/NJ transportaion.

On Googlemaps, it says I can take the NEC From the 34th street / Penn station, and take the NEC right to Newark Penn Station , and its 12 minut walk from there to the club.

So NEC is different from the PATH?

With either of these, once the club ends at whatever time they close, is there transit BACK to the city at that time of night? Not sure if these trains run 24/7 from NJ....

I might stay at the The Widget Hostel on
330 West 95th Street. Its pretty close to NJ and still in NYC so I can ride the trains around to the gothy sections and shop and stuff.

I've never stayed in a Hostel before so I just Googled it and this one looked ok and itw 18 bucks a night.

Any input? =)

Re: you can try
Not sure what NEC is but the NJ Path runs all night. Its just less often. Most likely at that time it'll run every hour so you may want to grab a schedule when you get to the station. The walk to the club is short but its not the safest neighborhood in NJ when walking alone. Although if there's a concert at the Arena there will be cops EVERYWHERE. Lol. As for hostels in ny, don't know. I've only stayed in european hostels and even those were scoped out beforehand. Look the hostel up and see if anyone has rated it.

Re: you can try
Yeaaaa I just checked, bad ratings on that Hostel lol Roaches and stuff...I might try a cheap 50.00 hotel..Im trying to keep it cheap, since Ill only be sleeping there.

theres a Howard Johnson in NJ, but It says I have to take a bus to the station..not sure if its close to the PATH

its at 20 Frontage Rd

Newark, NJ 07114

I guess I can call and check.

Trying to find a hotel IN NYC though or right by the PATH.

that's a good question.
I've only been to albion once right before they closed (i was like 16 lol) and I've been to qxt once. I go to the pyramid sometimes, but usually on 80's night...they do have industrial parties on saturdays but they're usually 21+ but I've gotten in once and I was 18..so I don't know about that.

I found out that QXT In NJ is 18 + and Vampire Freaks holds a monthly event or so thats 18 +.

That's all I have found. The QXT in NJ looks pretty nice though. A short train ride from NYC. I may just take a BoltBus up and check it out.

I need to try to make more friends in NYC, I don't relish staying in a Hostel or paying for a hotel.
